Ethiopian author and former MSU professor, Dr. Tibebe Eshete, was recently honored in Washington D.C..
Ethiopian Prince Ermias Sahele Selassie, the grandson of former Emperor Haile Selassie, poses with Trinity Church author and former MSU professor, Dr. Tibebe Eshete, at a book signing event in Washington, D.C., over which the Prince presided. Dr. Eshete’s most recent book focuses on Haile Selassie, the last Emperor of Ethiopia, who was deposed in 1974, brutally murdered by the communist leaders in Ethiopia at the time. The book signing was well attended by Ethiopians and other international figures. Dr. Eshete dedicated this book to his son.
The next day, Dr. Tibebe Eshete spoke to a large audience on the global significance of the Victory of Adwa, where, in 1896, Ethiopian forces defeated the Italian invading force thwarting attempts at colonization. He was surprised when he was awarded the Victory of Adwa Centenary Award in Recognition of the Support for the Identity, Welfare, and the Unity of the Peoples of Ethiopia.
