For many years I have had the privilege of serving as a board member of L’Arcada, a camp in northern Spain that was founded by GEM missionaries and which has had an exceptional evangelistic outreach. Just 16 days ago I wrote a letter to those of you who have stood with Carolyn and me during our 53 years of ministry in Spain. I asked for your financial help with an urgent need that the camp has.
A few days later staff members at the camp and the leaders of TEAM USA, a group which has prayed for and supported L’Arcada for many years, sent my letter to their contacts.
The urgent need consisted of a fire protection system that the government required us to install before we would be allowed to house campers in the four cabins that L’Arcada has on its property. Since camps begin mid-June, we needed to begin that project immediately to ensure that it would be completed before that time. To have sufficient funds available to begin that project now, a friend of the camp offered a $100,000 matching grant.
THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED $51.414. Your response in just 16 days has been so incredible that the donor of the matching grant said to me: “This blows my mind. This is incredible”. He then wrote his circle of contacts saying: “Praise God. Beyond my wildest imagination! Spread the word. Let’s cross the finish line strong!” For those who want to help take advantage of this grant, the donor has moved the deadline to April 15.
